Biography
I began teaching at Dalton State in 2007. Since then, I have taught ENGL 90, 96, 98, 1100, 1101, 3000, 3015, 3020, 3040 as well as FYES and RGTE 0199. From 2009-2018, I was Coordinator of the Writing Lab, but now I am back to teaching full-time. I couldn't be happier to be back in the classroom. I love teaching, and I love working with students.
I want to help students see the many ways that writing can make their lives better. As Lloyd Bitzer wrote, "The world presents imperfections to be modified by means of discourse--hence the practical need for rhetorical investigation." This idea--that we can study rhetoric and writing as a way to improve the world around us--is a guiding principle for the work I do in writing classes.
My teaching and research interests include first-year composition, composition pedagogy, current-traditional rhetoric, and ancient rhetoric, among many other areas in the field of rhetoric and composition.
